Keynote address: Closing the Gap for Aboriginal Students: Lessons from research.Professor Gary Partington

Gary Partington – Honorary Professor, School of Education, Edith Cowan University

Despite efforts to close the gap in outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, success has been elusive. One reason is that students do not become committed to programs for change. Based on longitudinal research studies on the Follow the Dream/Partnerships for Success and the Happy Kids programs, Professor Gary Partington will propose in this keynote address a model of intervention for the education of Indigenous students that gains student commitment and results in improved achievement, as well as better attendance and social-emotional wellbeing.

For those wishing to present, abstracts are due Friday 27 July 2012 (late submissions may be considered if time slots are available). Please refer to the PDF downloads for details about the requirements of the abstract submission.
