Seminar archives 1984-86: RESEARCH AND ...

This page provides an archival record for some previous seminars conducted by WAIER during 1984-86, under the series name RESEARCH AND ... . The use of "all caps" text was popular during that decade, but to facilitate screen reading of the archives, we have changed much of the "all caps" text in the original documents to "sentence case". We have collected the contents of eight individual documents into the single table format given below in order to facilitate access to the key information in the seminar archives, that is the names of presenters and the topics they discussed.

The "RESEARCH AND ..." form of title for WAIER seminars remained in use until mid-2002, in several variations, including the plain format "Research and ...", and "WAIER Research And: ..." [see Seminar archives pre-2003]

The WAIER is pleased to announce the first of its planned series of research based seminars on topics of current interest to teachers and educational administrators.

Teacher evaluation is a topic of continuing interest among teachers, administrators, and tertiary educators. The W.A. Institute for Educational Research has organised the panel discussion as an endeavour to highlight awareness of the issues surrounding the field. The choice of panelists was intended to reflect a cross set of perspectives ranging from the evaluation of professional persons as such, including tertiary teachers, to evaluation approaches ongoing in schools now. As well, the implications of the topic arising from the Beazley Committee's Report should emerge and enable the discussion to search ahead.
